AI Blog Automation Starter — Create Your First Zap
🚀 AI Blog Automation Starter — Create Your First Zap (No Code)
Ever wondered how bloggers automate their work without coding? In this beginner’s guide, you’ll build your first automation (Zap) — a simple workflow that sends daily blog ideas straight to your inbox. It’s free, fast, and perfect for anyone just starting out.
1) What You’ll Need (All Free)
- A Google account (for Gmail)
- A free Zapier account
Tip: You don’t need Notion or Google Sheets yet. Let’s master one working automation first — we’ll connect data tools later.
2) Step-by-Step: Create Your First Zap
Step A — Set the Trigger
- Go to Zapier → click Create Zap.
- Under Trigger App, choose Schedule by Zapier.
- Set Event: Every Day → choose your time (e.g., 08:00 AM).
- Click Continue → test the trigger.
Step B — Generate AI Ideas
- Click + → add another step → select OpenAI (ChatGPT).
- Event: Generate Text
- Paste this prompt:
Write 3 short blog post ideas about AI and productivity.
Keep them simple, inspiring, and under 10 words each.
Pro Tip: You can replace “AI and productivity” with your niche — fitness, travel, food, etc.
Step C — Send the Email
- Next step → select Gmail or Email by Zapier.
- Event: Send Email
- To: your own email address
- Subject:
✨ Daily AI Blog Ideas - Body: insert the output from OpenAI
Click Test → you’ll receive an email with your AI-generated blog ideas. If it works, click Publish to turn your Zap on.
3) Common Mistakes (and Fixes)
- No email received? Check spam or use a simpler subject line.
- Empty output? Add “respond in plain English” to your prompt.
- Time mismatch? Change time zone in the Trigger settings.
4) Bonus: Upgrade Your Zap (Optional)
- Send weekly summaries instead of daily updates.
- Include hashtags or call-to-actions in your email.
- Forward results to Notion or Google Sheets for tracking.
Once you’re comfortable, you can link ChatGPT + Notion + Zapier to build a full content engine.
5) Next Steps
Congrats! 🎉 You’ve built your first no-code automation. In the next guide, we’ll connect this workflow to a Notion database and automatically log your content ideas with AI tags.
